How Many Delegates?

Can this number from the Washington Post possibly be right? (Click to enlarge.)

Can Puerto Rico really have that many delegates? Egad, just try explaining first the electoral college to somebody from another country, then follow it up with just the Puerto Rico/Guam part of the primary process.

So when Clinton does well in Puerto Rico will she tell us she does well in the swing state of Puerto Rico with it’s uneducated, hard-working whites and that’s the reason she should be the nominee, because she’ll deliver those zero electoral votes?

Of course her swing state argument is so 2004, anyway. She beats Obama in the states that were swing states in 2000 and 2004 (and 1992 and 1996, so you can see where this is coming from), but Obama puts so many more states into play west of the Mississippi that there’s a whole new set of swing states in 2008 where he plays McCain much tougher than she can.

Incidentally, do you think the Democrats would have won Tuesday’s special election for Congress in a R+10 district in Mississippi if it weren’t for the excitement around Obama? Granted, the Republicans have to take some credit for that loss, too, thanks to their horrible management of government from 2000-2006, but I still say Obama had a lot to do with that.
